Designed For
All workers in the petroleum industry could be exposed to hydrogen sulfide H2S.
Course Requirements
- Wear comfortable clothes for physical skills training, such as rescues and donning breathing apparatus.
- A reasonable command of English is necessary to write the exam.
- Please bring a government-issued picture ID.
- Beards are allowed in the course but not on industrial sites where respirators must be worn.
Prerequisites
Bring a government-issued picture ID. You must sign a privacy consent form at the class to be registered.
Certification
At the end of the course, there is a closed-book exam. Successful candidates will receive a permanent certificate from Energy Safety Canada, valid for three years.

2. H2S Blended Renewal for H2S Alive
This is the best option for workers with an H2S Alive Certificate that has yet to expire. Instead of retaking the complete classroom course, with a renewal, you do a certified online course and check in with a certified assessor to do a skills test. 3. H2S Awareness Program
H2S Awareness is a program about Hydrogen Sulfide Gas's physical properties and characteristics. This is aimed at the learner who is not entering an industry site, such as Petroleum leases, but needs information on the hazards of H2S.
